Well, not according to Junior here. It's a common phrase that I read, or hear - from a great number of guitar players. Ironically, a great many of these players also admit that they play Les Paul and other types of guitars which are of equal, and sometimes even more weight than that of a Dan Armstrong · Ampeg model. I have a LP Custom that weighs in more than my Dan Armstrong guitar. If you play an instrument that is lighter in weight, fair enough - but it's the ironic 'double standard' mentioned here that I am addressing.
