Replacement scratchplates are always on this list. With today's wireless units for guitars - scratchplates are seldom broken. But this was not the case back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. As a result, many Dan Armstrong (and other) scratchplates were broken around the output jack when a musician stepped on his patch cord while it was plugged into the guitar.

Broken scratchplates were often patched back together while others were totally destroyed, forcing players to make, or find a replacement. It took awhile but now many businesses have offered replacement scratchplates for many instruments, including the Dan Armstrong · Ampeg instruments. Below are just a few of them.

Pickguard Planet makes scratchplates for Dan Armstrong guitars and basses as well as the re-issue models. In addition, they also make scratchplates for the Ampeg AMG1 and AMG100 models as well as most, if not all of the Dan Armstrong Japanese copy models made back then. If you can trace out your scratchplate, complete with pickup cavities and mounting screw holes they can make you a plate that's virtually identical to what your instrument had.

The scratchplate shown here from their catalogue stock appears to have several black markings on it, plus a sticker label. However this is all on the shrink-wrap plastic that protects the scratchplate and not on the actual scratchplate itself.

Seen here is a 7 screw-hole plate for older models but they also make plates with 8 holes for latter day Dan Armstrong reissue models.

Pickguardian also makes scratchplates for the Dan Armstrong · Ampeg instruments. Like other vendors, they recommend sending them your current scratchplate or at least a tracing of it, complete with screw holes and they can produce a copy for your Dan Armstrong guitar or bass.

If you have, or need a customized Dan Armstrong · Ampeg scratchplate, they can also make a customized type scratchplate as long as you send them your drawing or tracing of your scratchplate.
